Born: 1960

Place of Birth: Heide (North Germany)

Citizenship: German

1980: Finished high school to be entitled to attend university

1983/84: Study of psychology and journalism at the university in Hamburg


Professional Qualifications:

1986 - 2009: Newspaper-editor. Last 21 years for one company, a rural district-newspaper with circulation of around 27 000 issues. Last seven years responsible for reporting of all aspects of the district capital section of the daily newspaper. My responsibilities included the entire spectrum of local newspaper work.

1981 – 1983: Army-Service for two years. Then registered reservist (press officer) with ongoing training to obtain lieutenant-colonel status in 2001.

Now: Photographer. Living in New Zealand near Te Kauwhata/Hamilton and in Germany.


Photography awards

1995 and 2001: Awarded first prize in the photo competitions celebrating the Kiel-Canal Anniversary (in category 'professionals')

1999: Awarded first prize in the photo competition sponsored by the City of Luebeck (History Work Shop) for the 10th anniversary of the Falling of the Berlin Wall.


Travelling

1980/81: Eleven months journey through Western Europe, Israel and Egypt

1982: Algeria/Sahara

1996: Bosnia (visit to the German troops / reports and photos for the newspaper)

1996: Documentary about the work of the German Red Cross in Kaliningrad/Russia (photos and report for the newspaper)

1997: New York, Washington, Philadelphia (report with photos about the "Steubenparade" - military music parade)

Since 1998: About 20 visits to New Zealand with visits for some days in Los Angeles, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia (Perth, Brisbane, Townsville)


Music

Hobby-musician (guitar, harmonica, vocals).

January 2009: 'Summer School of the Arts' in Wanganui: One week bluesharmonica course with Master of Harp Brendan Power (England/New Zealand).
